Case study on a home in Dublin
A happy client after installing
BENGglas/Landvac
Our client heard about us through an architect as they were looking for experts to refurbish their windows and upgrade their existing glazing. When they contacted us we discussed the possibility of refurbishing their existing windows and installing BENGglas/Landvac vacuum glass. We explained that BENGglas/Landvac looks just like single glazing but outperforms triple-glazing.
During an appointment to survey the windows, we checked each window for signs of decay, the condition of the paintwork, functionality, draughts, etc.
Our client was delighted to hear that their windows were in very good condition with little or no signs of decay, and that BENGglas/Landvac could be fitted into the existing windows. We also explained that we would fit draught-proofing to the windows, and that along with virtually eliminating draughts, this would result in the windows opening and closing easily. We also explained that we would carry out a very comprehensive paint job to the frames and sashes.
Next, we visited the house again to take more detailed measurements so that we could order the BENGglas/Landvac for each window. When the BENGglas/Landvac units arrived we made arrangements with our client to carry out the work.
Then carpenters started their job. They took out the sliding sashes and brought them to our workshop where the existing glass was removed and BENGglas/Landvac was fitted.
Once this was completed, our painters started their work. They fully stripped and sanded the existing paint off all of the surfaces of the frames and sashes and fully re-painted them by hand.
When the painters had finished and the paint was dry, our carpenters returned to complete the job. They hung the sashes on new sash cords and new weights. They then fitted draught-proofing, cords and new solid brass ironmongery. Finally the painters returned for one final touch-up.
On completion our client was delighted to see that the windows look in no way different to how they did prior to our work. BENGglas/Landvac looks exactly like single glazing, which has been the glass that has traditionally been used in period sash windows.
Now the windows slide up and down easily, are draught-proof, and are incredibly energy-efficient. When we returned to take photos, our client was delighted to tell us that they have noticed a significant difference in the warmth of their home, and a reduction in their energy bills. And they look fantastic with the new paint job!
